Dr. Bertee Thomas Jr., often referred to as the "Gentle Giant," has been a committed servant in the mental and behavioral health arena since 1992. His passion, dedication, and unyielding yearning to help individuals to live healthy and productive have been the fueling force that has afforded opportunities for him to serve throughout his career in various capacities, from direct worker to Executive Level Manager. Throughout this journey, Dr. Thomas has accumulated a wealth of experience in the field of mental/behavioral health, social services, community corrections, and chemical addiction. Despite this vast experience, his work with children, adolescents, and their families has always been at the core of his heart.

Dr. Thomas has an extensive background in working with the Child Welfare Systems within various states. He assisted in the implementation and revitalization of New Jersey's Children's system of care, serving as one of the first Care Managers and Supervisors within the State of New Jersey. As a seasoned clinician, Dr. Thomas has achieved successful outcomes in treating individuals diagnosed with an array of psychological and behavioral health challenges. As an Administrator, Dr. Thomas has served as mid-to Executive Level Manager within several mental health organizations. Dr. Thomas has proven himself to be a dynamic leader throughout his career, with the ability to mobilize individuals to produce organizational shifts that maximize and sustain high levels of efficiency and quality of care. Dr. Thomas is one of the Founders of Creative Change Counseling and is currently serving as the agency's Chief Executive Officer.

Dr. Thomas earned a Psy.D. in clinical psychology from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the states of New Jersey, Delaware, and North Carolina. He has participated in several grass root initiatives and program activations. He has also consulted internationally for the development of community re-entry centers for juvenile offenders in London, England. He has proven expertise in the use of Evidence-Based Treatment and the Therapeutic Community Model. His expertise in this regard includes program development design, behavioral modification, and management in correctional settings for juvenile and adult populations. In addition to years of service in the field, Dr. Thomas has also served for the country in the United States Marine Corps.
